About this wine
From Giovanni Rosso's high-altitude Etna estate on the northern slope of the volcano — 730 to 750 metres, on dark volcanic soils — comes this 100% Carricante, the great white grape of Etna. Hand-harvested in October, whole-bunch pressed and fermented at low temperature in stainless steel, then aged five months on the lees in steel to preserve the variety's chiselled tension and saline grip. A wine that explains in one glass why serious lovers of Chablis and Riesling have all started keeping a few bottles of Etna Bianco in the cellar.
Tasting notes
Pale straw with green highlights. The nose is intense and clean — gorse, yellow-peeled citrus, a thread of fresh herbs over a saline volcanic background. The palate is full, linear and energetic, with great freshness and a long mineral finish that speaks of the lava soils beneath the vines.
