We're Moritz and Berthe — two wine lovers in Zurich who grew tired of buying wine blind. sommelia. is the shop we always wanted: a small, honest selection, and a sommelier you can actually ask.
Our story
We trained at the Zurich Wine Academy, but the thing that stuck wasn't the theory — it was how often a good bottle gets ruined by a bad buying experience. Walls of unfamiliar labels, prices with no context, and no one to ask. Most people just grab the bottle with the nicest label and hope for the best.
So we built the opposite. We taste everything ourselves, keep only what we'd happily pour for friends, and put a sommelier beside every bottle — so you never have to guess again.
How we choose
Every wine on sommelia. is tasted by the two of us before it earns a place. No algorithm, no pay-to-shelf, no filler. We lean toward small, independent producers with real character rather than big names you already know.
We pack each order with care and ship from Zurich across Switzerland — free from 2 bottles. If a bottle ever disappoints, tell us and we'll make it right.
The AI sommelier
Our sommelier is trained on our own tasting notes and the whole cellar. Ask it anything — what to pour with raclette, a gift under CHF 40, or something like the Chablis you loved last week — and it answers in plain language, then shows you the bottles.
It's the honest version of the shop assistant we wish every wine store had: knowledgeable, never pushy, and there whenever you are. The taste and the picks are ours — the AI just makes them easy to reach.
