About this wine

When Sacha Lichine acquired Château d'Esclans in 2006, Provence rosé was considered a casual summer wine with no serious credentials. He changed that. The Pale is Château d'Esclans' entry point — the wine that most people encounter first — and it set a new standard for what pale, dry, elegant rosé could be. Grenache, Rolle and Cinsault, fermented in stainless steel with temperature control, aged on lees for texture. The result is precisely what the name promises: a barely-there pink, bone dry, with peach and pink grapefruit and a soft, creamy finish. One of the most decorated Provence rosés in the world.

Tasting notes

Very pale salmon pink with delicate effervescence on the rim. The nose is subtle and refined — peach and pink grapefruit with white floral notes and a hint of citrus zest. On the palate, bone dry with an immediate freshness and a soft, creamy texture from lees aging. The finish is clean, elegant, and lingering. Undeniable restraint.

Editor's note

Sacha Lichine arrived at Château d'Esclans in 2006 with a single idea: make Provence rosé serious. The Pale is the wine that proved it could be done. Bone dry, very pale pink, stainless steel with lees aging. Peach, pink grapefruit, a soft creamy finish. One of the most awarded rosés in the world, and the wine that reset the standard for the entire category. Open it cold, open it fast.
