About this wine
Giovanni Rosso's Etna Bianco extends the Serralunga estate's Sicilian project to white wine — Carricante from high-altitude vineyards on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. Carricante is Etna's principal white grape, grown primarily on the east and north slopes where volcanic basalt soils and altitude combine to preserve remarkable freshness and mineral precision. The variety produces wines of a very different register to mainland Italian whites: more saline, more vertical, with a volcanic mineral thread that no other region replicates. The 2024 vintage was a warm, generous year — the whites show more texture and richness than cooler years, but altitude and the volcanic terroir kept the freshness intact.
Tasting notes
Pale gold with green highlights. The nose is clean and aromatic — citrus blossom, white peach and lemon zest, with a distinct volcanic chalk note and a fine saline thread. On the palate, medium-bodied with crisp, vibrant acidity and a long mineral finish. The 2024 warmth adds a little texture and fruit weight without losing the Etna character. Precise, volcanic, long.

From the winemaker
Carricante and Catarratto from high-altitude volcanic vineyards on the slopes of Mount Etna; volcanic basalt and sandy soils; cool fermentation; minimal oak; 2024 — warm, generous vintage with altitude freshness preserved; Giovanni Rosso, extending the Serralunga estate philosophy to Etna's white wines.
Editor's note
Giovanni Rosso's Etna Bianco is Carricante at its most precise: citrus, white stone fruit, and the volcanic mineral thread that no other wine region replicates. The 2024 is a warmer year — a little more texture, a little more fruit weight — but the altitude and the basalt keep it honest. Fresh, precise, and built for the table rather than for sipping alone.
