About this wine

Petit Meslier is one of the four original authorized Champagne grapes — alongside Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier — that nearly disappeared in the 20th century when growers replanted with higher-yielding varieties. H.Blin kept their plots in Vincelles and now makes one of the only 100% Petit Meslier Champagnes in existence. Zero dosage, no malolactic fermentation, minimum four years on lees. The grape's naturally electric acidity is the entire point: it creates a tension and aromatic precision — lime blossom, bergamot, yuzu, salinity — that no other Champagne variety delivers in the same way.

Tasting notes

Bright pale yellow with yellow-green reflections and a very fine bead. The nose is floral and precise — lime blossom, bergamot, and a whisper of yellow grapefruit. On the palate, the lemony acidity is fresh and completely integrated, with notes of yuzu, a delicate salinity, and a finish of sustained tension and great typicity. Drink slowly.

100% Petit Meslier from Vincelles; zero dosage (Brut Nature); no malolactic fermentation; minimum 4 years on lees. One of the only single-variety Petit Meslier Champagnes in production.

Editor's note

Petit Meslier is one of the four original authorized Champagne grapes — alongside Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier — that nearly disappeared in the 20th century when growers switched to higher-yielding varieties. H.Blin is one of only a handful of producers who still grow it. Zero dosage, no malolactic fermentation, 4 years on lees. Lime blossom, bergamot, yuzu, a salinity that doesn't let go. I ordered 6 bottles. That should tell you something.
