About this wine
Cloudy Bay's red counterpart to its iconic Sauvignon Blanc — a Marlborough Pinot Noir drawn from carefully chosen sites across the Wairau Valley and the cooler, elevated parcels of the Southern Valleys. Hand-picked, sorted berry by berry, partially whole-bunch fermented with native yeasts, and aged ten to eleven months in French oak (a measured proportion new). The 2023 vintage delivers a Pinot that is fragrant and supple, with the Marlborough hallmark of vivid red fruit framed by gentle savoury complexity.
Tasting notes
Bright ruby in the glass. The nose lifts with wild strawberry, fresh raspberry and dark cherry, layered with rose petal, a whisper of forest floor and a fine thread of clove and cedar from the oak. The palate is silky and seamless — pure red fruit carried by supple, fine-grained tannins, a beam of bright acidity and a long, lightly spiced finish.
