About this wine
Where the Selección draws on centenary vines across the estate, the Avizor represents a selection within that selection — the best old-vine parcels, given longer treatment and different oak. Fifteen months in French oak only, compared to the Selección's French and American combination, and two additional years of bottle age before release. The result is a wine of noticeably greater complexity and concentration: the same Pedrosa de Duero Tempranillo, but darker, deeper, and built with more intent. Blackcurrant, dried plum, leather, cigar box, mocha. A serious Ribera del Duero from vines that have been doing this for nearly a century.
Tasting notes
Deep garnet with ruby hues. The nose is complex and evolved — blackcurrant and dried plum deepening into leather, cigar box and mocha, with a dark chocolate undertone. On the palate, full-bodied and layered with firm tannins and persistent acidity keeping everything structured and alive. Long, demanding finish with hints of vanilla, dried spice and tobacco. A wine that opens with time in the glass.

The Avizor is Finca Rodma's selection within a selection: the best parcels from the centenary vines, 15 months in French oak only, and more time in bottle before release. The 2020 shows where these vines and this site can go when given the full treatment. Blackcurrant, dried plum, leather, cigar box, mocha, firm tannins, and a finish that keeps giving. It needs a slow meal and a patient drinker. Both will be rewarded.
