About this wine
The flagship of Finca Rodma, and the wine the entire estate was built around. Avizor is drawn from a single old plot of Tempranillo — vines that turned ninety in the year of this vintage — in Pedrosa de Duero, on the so-called 'Golden Mile' that Vega Sicilia made famous and the Martín Rodríguez family decided to join in 2019. The cellar runs on its own renewable power, moves wine entirely by gravity, and was built to leave the lightest footprint the geology would allow. Twenty-two months in new French oak, malolactic completed in barrel, 10,000 bottles released — the kind of work old vines deserve.
Tasting notes
Ripe red cherry deepening to garnet — dense, opaque, serious in the glass. The nose opens slowly on candied black fruit, warm spice, cedar and a curl of cocoa from the new oak. The palate is meaty and generous, with velvety tannins that lean sweet and a finish that simply refuses to fade. A wine with real presence, polished without being over-worked. A Ribera for the evenings worth remembering.
