About this wine
Finca Aylés sits on its own appellation. Spain recognises just fifteen Vinos de Pago — single estates whose terroir is so distinct it warrants a denomination of one — and this medieval finca outside Zaragoza is one of them. The Ramón Reula family have been restoring it patiently since the 1980s, farming the whole property organically. The vines grow at 650 metres on glacis soils thirty-five million years old (clay, lime, calcium), in a micro-continental climate that swings hard between day and night and gives Aragonese Garnacha a backbone you don't always expect from the variety. The 2024 came in at 91 points from James Suckling. Pure Garnacha, ready right now.
Tasting notes
Deep cherry-garnet. The nose is bold and immediate: warm spice woven into stewed dark fruit, with sliced strawberry and a twist of lemon zest brightening the top. The attack is muscular, then unwinds into a silky middle of ripe, soft tannins. The finish is long, balanced and unmistakably honest — direct, expressive, the kind of Garnacha that makes you reach for the bottle again.
Food pairings
Lamb cutlets with herbs, Pork ribs with smoky paprika, Aged Manchego, Tapas spread
Best for
A casual Spanish dinner
