About this wine
G de Château Guiraud is the dry white of Château Guiraud — the 1er Cru Classé Sauternes estate, certified organic since 2011 and the first classified Sauternes to do so. Made from a dedicated 38-hectare parcel of sandy and clay gravels, the blend leans Sauvignon (53%) over Sémillon (47%), with a small share of malolactic fermentation. Fermented half in stainless steel and half in oak barrels previously used for the 1er Cru Classé, then aged six months on the lees with regular stirring. A bright, expressive Bordeaux blanc sec that wears its grand-cru pedigree lightly.
Tasting notes
Pale yellow, with great brightness. The nose lifts on passion fruit and pink grapefruit, with a minty freshness and a pleasant salivating savouriness. The palate opens on the freshness of ripe Sauvignon, then quickly evolves toward the roundness and lightly brioche notes of Sémillon, bringing real flesh to a very accessible and food-friendly bottle.
Food pairings
Oysters and shellfish, Goat cheese, Asian-spiced chicken, Summer salads with citrus
Best for
A grand-cru name for an everyday white
