About this wine
Blanc de Blancs from Vincelles in the Marne Valley — not from the classic Chardonnay chalk terroirs of the Côte des Blancs — and the grape behaves differently here. On H.Blin's clay-chalk soils, Chardonnay produces a wine of unusual aromatic intensity: exotic rather than strictly mineral, textured and generous rather than taut and austere. 100% Chardonnay, minimum 24 months on lees. The house describes it as 'another face of Chardonnay.' That is accurate.
Tasting notes
Pale yellow with fine, clean effervescence. The nose expresses exotic notes — lychee, pineapple, fresh citrus — with an aromatic generosity unexpected in a Blanc de Blancs. On the palate, an upfront, lively attack reveals aromas of stewed fruits and citrus, with good length and the freshness to keep everything honest.
Aromas
lychee, pineapple, fresh citrus, white flowers, stewed fruit, green apple

Editor's note
Blanc de Blancs from the Marne Valley rather than the classic Chardonnay terroirs — and it shows. Where Côte des Blancs Chardonnay tends towards chalk and green apple, H.Blin's version goes exotic: lychee, pineapple, stewed citrus with a mineral backbone. If you know your Champagne, this one surprises you.
