Why it's on our shelf

Garnacha is planted all over Spain, but Pago Aylés is not everywhere. Estate-certified terroir — one of just fifteen Vinos de Pago in the country — at 650 metres on ancient limestone soils, farmed organically by the Ramón Reula family since the 1980s. What the altitude and organic farming do to Garnacha: cherry, strawberry, white pepper, and a freshness that warmer-grown versions rarely hold. 91 points from James Suckling.
